About this Hands-On

Have you ever wanted to do more contextual field research? Do you want to observe real people in their natural setting, but need to know a bit more about the type of observations you should be making? This is a quick, hands-on primer to get your observation skills up to scratch so you can start doing your own ethnographic field research.

About the Speaker

Laura is a UX consultant at Experience UX. She has spent the last 12 years in the digital industry, first as a web developer and eventually moving into user experience design, fuelled by a growing curiosity about the people she was creating products and services for.

Her passions are ethnographic and field research, soft skills for UX practitioners, behavioural psychology and understanding people. When she’s not immersed in experience design and spending time with her family, she can also be found reading and trying to write her own book, taming her garden and playing the piano out of tune.
